Descriptive Notes
Salwarpe Court, a Tudor timber-framed manor, standing close to the Church, was once the home of the Talbot family, enthusiastic royalist and supporters of both Charles I and Charles II.

Ancient Parish [25]
Included the hamlet of Chawson. Chawson became a separate Civil Parish in 1894 as the 'Unnamed' Civil Parish, being the part of Salwarpe in Droitwich Municipal Borough. (See entry for Unnamed Parish 2).[25]

O.S. Ref: SO874621
2 miles S.W. of Droitwich along the A38 Droitwich to Worcester road. Turn off by the public house, The Copcut Elm, along Copcut Lane for about 1 mile.

Directories
An extract from Topographical Dictionary of England 1831 by Samuel Lewis:
SALWARPE, a parish in the upper division of the hundred of HALFSHIRE, county of WORCESTER, 2 ½ miles (W. S. W.) from Droitwich, containing 462 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the arcdeaconry and diocese of Worcester, rated in the king's books at £14. 14. 7. The Rev. J.V.Vashon was patron in 1808. The church, dedicated to St. Michael, exhibits portions in the Norman, and in the decorated and later styles of English architecture. The Droitwich canal passes through the parish. Thomas Trimmell bequeathed £24 per annum for teaching poor children, and. repairing the church; but the charity commissioners report it as lost. A small Benedictine priory, a cell to the abbey of Fontevrault, was founded here in the reign of Richard II., the site of which is occupied by an old mansion erected in the time of Henry VIII. Richard Beauchamp, the celebrated Earl of Warwick, was born here, in 1351.
