This website is no longer actively maintained. It was the labour of love of my late grandfather, Arthur Lewis.

Arthur sadly passed away on 25th February 2018. He, along with numerous contributors over the years, built this wonderful website as a unique resource for people looking to find out more about their family history and local area.

I keep this website online for others to use it as Arthur would have wanted, and as a testament to him. If you are interested in becoming the new caretaker of the website, you can reach me at this email address. If you spot something which is broken, please let me know.

Please note. I have no direct connection with any of the churches included in this Website and cannot help you arrange christenings, marriages and funerals.

I'm sure you will appreciate that the aim of our website is to help those researching their ancestors in Worcestershire by pointing them in the direction of the sources available. Our files do not carry any individual or family names nor are we in a position usually to undertake research work for individuals. If you are seeking help with your research you might consider one or more of the following suggestions.

Consider contacting Worcestershire Archives at The Hive, Sawmill Walk, The Butts, Worcester, WR1 3PB. For the more complex queries it has on its staff a professional researcher who may well be able to help you. Tel:(01905) 765922 Fax: (01905 36390). Its email address is [email protected]

Another possible source of help is the Rootsweb mailing list for Worcestershire. Subscribers to that list can be very knowledgeable and helpful. To subscribe to the list send an email to [email protected] entering the word "Subscribe". Subscription is free. I would suggest that for a little while you should read contributions to the list before submitting your questions. This will help you structure your queries in the best way to attract positive responses.

A number of professional researchers work in this area, some being members of The Association of Genealogists and Researchers in Archives - see Since I have no experience of employing any of the researchers nor any connection with that Association you will understand my reluctance to make any recommendations. Some researchers advertise in family history magazines available commercially. Before you approach a researcher I would advise you to read a Society of Genealogist article at
