Ancient Parish [25]
Abolished civilly in 1933 to help create Hanley Civil Parish. Abolished ecclesiastically in 1560 entirely to Eastham Ancient Parish. The original area of Hanley William, a chapel of ease to Eastham, ecclesiastically severed 1909 from the latter to help create Hanley William with Hanley Child Ecclesiastical Parish. Hanley William with Hanley Child Ecclesiastical Parish abolished in 1973 to help create Stoke Bliss with Kyre Wyard, Hanley William & Hanley Child Ecclesiastical Parish [25]

An extract from the Topographical Dictionary of England by Samuel Lewis 1831:

HANLEY-WILLIAM, a parish in the upper division of the hundred of DODDINGTREE, county of WORCESTER, 6 miles (E. S. E.) from Tenbury, containing 124 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Salop, and diocese of Hereford, rated in the king's books at£5. 7. 11 and in the patronage of the Rev. R. Whitehead. The church is dedicated to All Saints.
