SUCKLEY, a parish in the upper division of the hundred of DODDINGTREE, county of WORCESTER, 5½ miles (E.S.E.) from Bromyard, containing, with the chapelries of Alfrick and Lulsley, 1187 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Worcester, rated in the king's books at £26. 19. 4½ and in the patronage of the Crown. The church is dedicated to St. John the Baptist. There is a place of worship for Wesleyan Methodists. Courts leet and baron are annually held here. A school for the education of the poor is endowed with about £8 per annum. Included a chapel at Alfrick & a chapel at Lulsley. Each was a separate Civil Parish in 1866 and the two united ecclesiastically in 1912 as 'Alfrick & Lulsley' Ecclesiastical Parish.[25]
