HONEYBOURNE (CHURCH), a parish in the upper division of the hundred of BLACKENHURST, county of WORCESTER, 4 miles (N. W. by N.) from Chipping-Campden, containing, with Poden, 136 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy, with that of Cow-Honeybourne, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Worcester, rated in-the king's books at £6. 4.4 ½ and in the patronage of Mrs. Williams. The church, dedicated to St. Egwin, has a plain tower surmounted by a spire : it was esteemed the mother church in the Vale of Evesham at the dissolution of the abbey There is a place of worship for Wesleyan Methodists. Including a chapel at Cow Honeybourne. Cow Honeybourne, in Gloucestershire (Kiftsgate Hundred), enjoyed separate civil identity early in Gloucestershire and was ecclesiastically united early to Church Honeybourne. The union was reaffirmed 1885, so that this parish ecclesiastically was called 'Church Honeybourne with Cow Honeybourne'. Church Honeybourne abolished civilly in 1953 to help create Honeybourne Civil Parish [25]
