Ancient Parish [25]
Batsford was partly in Gloucestershire (Kiftsgate Hundred) and partly in Worcestershire (Oswaldslow Hundred). In 1896 the civil parish was made entirely Gloucestershire. In 1887, Batsford gained Moreton in Marsh chapel from Bourton on the Hill Ancient Parish, hence thereafter it was called "Batsford with Moreton in Marsh" Ecclesiastical Parish.

A free-to-view site is being developed at freecen.org.uk for the 1841, 1851, 1861, 1871 and 1891 censuses.  Coverage of Worcestershire parishes is rather sparse at this time.

Directories:
BATSFORD, a parish in the upper division of the hundred of KIFTSGATE, county of GLOUCESTER, 2 miles (N. W.) from Moreton in the Marsh, containing 108 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Gloucester, rated in the king's books at £13. 3. 9, and in the patronage of the Dean and Canons of Christ Church, Oxford. The church, dedicated to St. Mary, was rebuilt and enlarged in 1822, at the expense of Lord Redesdale. This parish enjoys the benefit of an endowed school at Moreton in the Marsh.
